Showtime for finance and accounting
Anyone interested in the selection or implementation of new financial and accounting systems would do well to beat a path to two forthcoming events. Softworld in Accounting and Management Executive Information Systems takes place at the NEC in Birmingham on 1-2 October; the Accountants and Financial Directors Exhibition is at the Barbican on 15-17 October.
Softworld features the usual plethora of corporate accounting systems.
A wide-ranging choice of seminars gives delegates the chance to listen to and question software developers.
A number of new products will be launched, including several Internet-enabled products and some object-oriented software. Oracle will be demonstrating its new Web applications, the first to be developed for the Internet. Time will launch a new version of its TRI-O object-oriented corporate accounting system and Lawson Software will demonstrate its Insight business management system.
Event organisers Interactive will be giving away free copies of the Softworld Directory, an invaluable guide to the software market. There will also be masterclasses for selecting the right system for your business.
At AFDEX in October, the focus is more on practice management issues.
Tax software suppliers will display working versions of their new Windows products, and accountants preparing for self-assessment could make some interesting comparisons. For details on Softworld, call Interactive Exhibitions on: 0181-541 4865. For AFDEX, call Truemist on: 0181-742 3399.
