Rawlinson, Pryde and Partners of Bedford has appointed Susan Todhunter (left) as a partner. Todhunter is the first woman to join the line-up of five male partners. She brings with her 20 years’ experience as a certified accountant and a range of her own clients from her own practice, Hunter Ross.

Heather Inman (right) joins Clark Whitehill Josolyne’s Keighley office as tax senior. Inman has extensive experience, specialising in both corporate and personal tax affairs with accountancy firms in West Yorkshire.

Sharon Nock (left) has been appointed a partner at the Birmingham office of Hacker Young. She qualified as a certified accountant with Groom & Co. Before joining Hacker Young in 1993, she spent eight years at Price Pearson, the last four years as a partner.

Gabrielle McParlin has joined Jacksons Chartered Accountants in Bolton as office manager.

Paul Bradley (top right) has been appointed a new partner at Williams Allan chartered accountants in Windsor. He will be building a specialist VAT services department within the firm. Bradley has considerable experience in VAT recovery, particularly dealing with overseas companies. He has specialist skills in the areas of property, partial exemption, and sports and health clubs, and has also worked as a senior inspector at Customs & Excise.

Nicholas Stockton and Steven Greenwood (below) have been appointed partners at the north-west office of Casson Beckman. Stockton, 31, (below left) qualified with a Big Six firm before joining Casson Beckman in 1990. He specialises in growing family companies and solicitors. He will head the audit department in Manchester and will be responsible for developing the existing corporate finance service. Greenwood, 36, (below right) joined the firm as a trainee in 1982, progressed to senior manager, and helped to set up the financial services department. As a partner he will specialise in investment and portfolio management.

Ernst & Young’s corporate finance practice has recruited Steven Lindsay as assistant director. Lindsay’s early corporate finance experience was gained with the Stock Exchange and County NatWest, and he was, until recently, an adviser on internal corporate finance matters for the National & Provincial Building Society at its head office in Bradford. The appointment follows senior corporate and investment banker Peter Garnham joining the lead advisory team. Three members of the firm’s north-west corporate finance team have also been promoted. William Clark has been promoted to manager, and Chris Reindel and David Stephenson to senior manager. The litigation support team has recruited Merryck Lowe from Price Waterhouse.

David Brilliant joins Price Waterhouse as a director in its Internal Audit services group across Europe. Brilliant, a past president of the Institute of Internal Auditors, joins PW from Chemical Bank, where he headed up the international audit division.

Garry Meakin has been appointed a partner of accountants Baker Tilly, in a drive to strengthen the tax department at the Birmingham office; he joins from Deloitte and Touche. Meakin and fellow tax partner John Conlan will share responsibility for developing the department’s corporate and personal tax portfolios, and will contribute to the firm’s marketing initiatives. Formerly an inspector of taxes, Meakin has worked for major accountancy firms as a tax specialist, particularly in the areas of corporate groups, corporate finance and employee initiatives.

Guinness plc has announced the appointment of Philip Yea, the group’s finance director, as chairman of Guinness Publishing Limited, the publisher of the Guinness Book of Records and many other titles. Yea will succeed Ian Chapman CBE from 1 January 1997, when Chapman moves to the position of deputy chairman.

Leeds-based accountancy recruitment company Forsyth and Kayee has made its own appointment. Human resources specialist Hugh McCreadie has been brought in as a senior manager for his wide experience of personnel issues.

A member of the Institute of Personnel Managers, McCreadie gained a BSc in Economics at Bradford University in 1975 and qualified as a member of the Institute of Personnel Development in 1988.
