HLB International, which was left without a UK firm after Kidsons merged with Baker Tilly, has appointed Numerica and its audit arm AV Audit to be its new UK members, writes Alex Miller.
Accountancy Age has learned the HLB council voted to appoint the new business services group and its independent auditor at its international conference in Salzburg last week. The deal will become active from 1 April, while it is understood Numerica beat off competition from at least three other firms for the right to be UK representative for HLB. A Stock Exchange announcement may be posted today.
Tony Sarin, chief executive of Numerica, said the deal added to the international flavour of the group. He added: ‘We are very proud HLB selected us along with AV Audit. Numerica places huge value on the benefits of belonging to such an organisation for both our clients and our people.’
The HLB network has been searching for a mid-tier firm, which didn’t already belong to an international network. HLB Kidsons merged with Baker Tilly in January, and created the eighth biggest firm in the UK.
