Paymaster general Dawn Primarolo will appear before a Treasury Select Committee sub-committee later this week to give evidence on the Inland Revenues medium-term spending plans.
Primarolo will appear in Commons on Wednesday this week at 5pm to give evidence on IR expenditure planes for the years 2002 to 2004.
In an official document outlining its spending strategy for 2001-2004, the Revenue set its 2002/2003 departmental expenditure limits at £2.511bn, with this rising slightly to £2.528bn for the 2003/2004 tax year. In the 2001/2002, departmental spending was £2.36bn.
Among the items under discussion could be the £20m the Revenue wishes to spend to persuade suppliers to bid for its £4.5bn outsourcing IT contract.
