Insurer appoints Jackie Hunt on temporary basis until permanent replacement for David Nish is found
Jackie Hunt might be set to head up Standard Life’s finance function
following David Nish’s move to chief on just a temporary basis, but at least the
insurer will let her in on its big discussions until a replacement is found.
Hunt, formerly deputy group finance director, has take over Nish’s old role
while the board searches for a permanent replacement. She will attend board
meetings as group CFO, but will not officially be appointed to the board.
Hunt joined Standard Life from Aviva’s Norwich Union Insurance at the start
of the year, where she served as CFO.
Standard Life has also poached KPMG’s Simon Davies as senior employee
benefits officer, where he will focus on developing its corporate benefits
strategy and proposition for the large employer market.
Mike Washburn has been named venture capital-backed CEO of the year. He
attributed his success to his accountancy background. He has AAT and CIPFA
qualifications and trained at Vale Royal District Council before moving to KPMG.
He took on the stewardship at Coventry-based ScriptSwitch in 2002, for which he
got the award, growing its annual turnover from £2.1m to £6.8m in two years.
Dual International, the underwriters, has appointed Rinku Patel as FD. He was
previously financial controller for FTSE 100 company Reed Business Information,
where he was involved in several acquisitions and the sale of a division of the
business. Patel is ICAEW accredited and previously worked as a manager for PwC
and FD of Investmaster Group.
Former KPMG M&A tax director Iain Wright joins accountancy firm Friend as
