ICAS has expelled one of its members for professional misconduct.
The Institute’s Discipline Tribunal ordered Michael Alan Hendry Revels to pay
a penalty of £5,000 and costs of £4,500.
Revels had been “engaged in public practice without the benefit of either a
practising certificate or confirming to the Institute that he held the requisite
professional indemnity insurance in terms of the Institute’s bye-laws,” ICAS
said.
In expelling Revels, the Tribunal noted that the clear rationale behind the
rules and byelaws governing practising certificates and professional indemnity
cover was the protection of the public.
