Jann Brown to become president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland in 2014
Jann Brown , finance director and managing director of Cairn Energy, the FTSE 100 oil company, has been elected junior vice president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS).
She will succeed current vice presidents Sir David Tweedie and Brendan Nelson to become ICAS President in April 2014.
Brown – one of only a handful of female finance directors at FTSE 100 companies – worked for KPMG and Deloitte before joining Edinburgh-based Cairn in 1998 as group tax manager. She was promoted to group financial controller and then finance director in 2006.
Commenting on her new role at ICAS, Brown said: “Business and the accountancy profession are facing increasing scrutiny, external pressures and uncertainty in these challenging economic times. I look forward to this integral role in an organisation which seeks to maintain the highest professional standards in a changing environment.”
