A FORMER CIMA council member has been given judicial approval to take her long-running disciplinary dispute to the High Court.
Last year a CIMA tribunal found Margaret May guilty of two charges and ordered her to pay costs of £55,000, which included a charge of misconduct. However, on appeal a “significant legal error” led to her being cleared of one of the charges: dishonesty.
May filed a legal claim on 11 May, with judge Stephen Stewart now granting her case a judicial hearing at the Manchester High Court.
Justice Stewart refused the application by CIMA to move the hearing to London.
A court date has been set for 8 November.
A spokesman for CIMA said: “As this matter is subject to ongoing legal proceedings, CIMA will not make a comment at this stage.”
