MANY small businesses will look to their accountant for support in managing auto-enrolment, according to new research.
Three in four small business employers will turn to external advisers for help suring the auto-enrolment process, according to a survey of 300 employer of between 1 to 49 people by Nest. Of those, six in ten intend to ask an accountant for advice, with 14% to turn to an IFA.
Only 23% said they had confidence in dealing with pensions issues. Tim Jones (pictured), Nest CEO, said the 33,000 employers who will have to offer a workplace pension to staff in the next year “are going to keep the intermediary community very busy in 2015”.
While 73% deal with HR issues without external assistance, only 57% manage payroll completely in-house.
Nest released the research as it revealed a new intermediaries tool, Nest Connect, to help manage multiple clients during the process.
