Firm launches to help other accountants provide financial advice

A NEW accounting firm has been launched that will look to support smaller practices and IFAs enhance their offerings to clients.

Eric Clapton, former CEO of Wellian Investment Solutions and a chartered accountant, has launched Clapton Consultants. The firm will provide accounting services to clients, but specialise in helping accountants collaborate with IFAs in offering financial advice.

A key aspect of the offering will be a series of educational workshops showcasing the potential growth available by advisers taking on a designated professional body (DPB) licence. The licence allows accountants to provide certain investment and insurance advice.

Clapton believes that the huge changes that have undergone the pensions market open up new possibilities for advisers, and his firm will look to help them take advantage.

Clapton said: “The pension changes have presented professional advisers with either a major challenge or a major opportunity, depending on how they have adapted themselves to the new flexibilities afforded to clients.

“I have launched Clapton Consultants with the aim of helping small accountancy firms and IFAs navigate their way through the challenges in today’s market by expanding and diversifying their offering as much as possible to meet with current demand.”
