MORE THAN a century of history lies in the balance for a Liverpool building contractor as Andrew Mackenzie and Nick Reed of Begbies Traynor have been appointed as joint administrators of W Braithwaite & Son Limited.
The building firm and shop fitter, which can trace its pedigree back to the 19th century – having been founded in 1899 – carries out work for blue chip companies including several hospital trusts, universities, councils, banks and building societies.
“Unfortunately, over the last 12 months, the company has suffered a number of issues resulting in the current financial difficulties,” said joint administrator Andrew Mackenzie.
“The majority of the 22-strong staff have been made redundant, but a skeleton staff of seven remains to complete certain contracts.
“The company has a strong reputation and an excellent track record and we are currently looking for expressions of interest for the business and or the assets of the company.”
