TOP 20 firm Kingston Smith has appointed of Maureen Penfold as managing partner from January 2016.
Julie Walsh is stepping down from her role as part of the firm’s succession plan prior to her retirement in April. She will be succeeded by Penfold, who joined the firm as a trainee and became a partner in 1990.
Michael Snyder, senior partner of Kingston Smith, said: “Being a chartered accountant and general practitioner with over 30 years’ experience advising entrepreneurial businesses has given her a deep understanding of the ethos and culture that differentiates us as a firm.”
Last year, Kingston Smith was awarded an alternative business licence by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and appointed Andrew Bloom as head of legal services as part of its expansion plans.
The firm was criticised by MPs over its role as auditors of disgraced charity Kids Company before its ignominious collapse.
