ONE of the ICAEW’s most influential heads has defected to the ACCA.
Harry McAdoo, director of comms at ICAEW, will move across to ACCA in October.
“ACCA provides bright, capable people with that opportunity in 95 different countries and I am energised about helping them grow,” he said.
McAdoo joined the ICAEW in 2001, and has been influential in forming the institute’s brand during that time, including its deal to produce member publication Economia with Progressive Publishing.
He was also a key part of the team that attempted to persuade two-thirds of its members to merge with CIPFA in 2006 – a campaign that failed by the narrowest of margins.
Alan Hatfield, ACCA’s executive director of strategy and development, said McAdoo had demonstrated a “clear understanding of our strategy and brand as well as the values that make us who we are”.
“I have no doubt he will make a strong contribution to our future success.”
