RSM growth thanks to expansion of annual trainee intake

Top ten firm RSM have increased its trainee intake this September, adding 32 more new employees to its cohort than it took on last year.

The leading audit, tax, and consulting firm hired 320 new trainees compared with 288 last year as part of its aim to grow the business.

This year 76 of the new recruits joined RSM straight from school compared with 52 school leavers last year. RSM are striving to attract more people who want to jump straight into work after A-Levels rather than focusing on university leavers.

RSM’s new trainee intake will be spread around the UK working across 30 of their offices, and it’s not even too weighted towards London.

London-based trainees number 65, 91 are based in southern offices, and the remaining will be in the West and East Midlands, the North West, North East, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.

Trainees also get a wide range of choice when it comes to what career they want in the company.

They could work in tax, audit, corporate finance, risk, restructuring advisory, financial reporting, or IT.

After completing an initial intensive course, the new employees will have to begin studying towards their professional accountancy qualifications, including ACA, AAT, ATT, ICAS, ACCA, CIA, or CTA.

Robert Ross, chief operating officer at RSM said: “I am delighted to welcome this hugely talented group of new trainees to RSM. Our vision to be the first-choice adviser to middle market leaders globally relies heavily on attracting and developing new talent across every area of our business.”

Victoria Kirkhope, national HR and development director added: “We are driven by supporting our trainees through their professional qualification and in gaining the technical and personal skills they need to develop their careers and achieve their full potential with RSM. Each individual brings their own, unique contribution and that is what makes RSM an exciting place to work.”
