AAnswers Podcast: Breakfast or Brexit?

For our third AAnswers podcast, we have finally decided to focus specifically on two of the biggest changes that will be undertaken in 2019: Brexit and Making Tax Digital (MTD).

Who are the speakers?

Beth McLoughlin has recently joined as managing editor of Accountancy Age. She was previously an online editor at Petroleum Economist, and spent five years in Brazil as a foreign correspondent, working for organisations such as the BBC, Sky, Voice of America, US News and World Review, and The Guardian. Beth began her journalism career writing for local papers, before moving to national titles, including The Sun.

Lucy Skoulding works as a senior reporter at Accountancy Age and has also been a reporter on Financial Director. Her journalism career began five years ago when she worked as a student journalist alongside her degree in English Literature at Warwick University. Since then, she has gained experience at i Paper, The Lady, and The Guardian as well as freelancing for a range of publications, such as Metro and Women in Journalism. Lucy recently put her passions to use in co-authoring her first novel, which was published in June 2018. She has been with Accountancy Age for nearly a year, having joined in December 2017.

Emanuela Hawker graduated with an English Literature and Creative Writing degree at the University of Birmingham. Alongside her degree, Emanuela undertook freelance work with Counteract, an online music publication, was an editorial assistant for Redbrick News, interned as a language subject editor with technology publishing house, Packt, and interned as an editorial assistant at the political publishing house, Biteback. As well as this, Emanuela worked on creative projects with Colonel Duck Productions and Project Birmingham, writing poetry for events and animation. Emanuela also started up her own music blog (EMusicChoices) at the beginning of 2018. She is now a reporter for Accountancy Age, having joined the team in September 2018.

Brian Palmer is a past president and fellow member of the Association of Accounting Technicians, the body’s tax policy adviser, and a winner of an HMRC 2013 external engagement award. He is also managing director of Tax Policy Advice.
