UHY Calvert Smith, a chartered accounting firm based in York, have merged with Hare & Co, also based in the northern city.
The merger will grow the current UHY Hacker Young group, which is already in the top 20 accountancy firms in the UK, placed at number 19 in the 2018 Top 50 + 50 ranking.
Following the merging of the two firms today, the newly formed practice will come together in one office and consist of 34 employees in total.
Six partners will lead the business, including founder of Hare & Co, Linda Hare, who started the firm up in 2003, and Gareth Burrow, who was promoted to partner level today.
The merger is clearly a good fit and both practices feel really positive about the future of the firm and the wider UHY group.
When originally two practices, they both provided services to many family-owned businesses around York and the surrounding area. Usefully, they also both use matching software providers and even similar systems for many critical services.
Moving into the future, the newly formed practice will offer a wide range of services, including advisory, audit, and probate as well as striving to build its client base from the local area.
In merging, Hare & Co also looks forward to gaining some of the wider benefits and expertise from the UHY Hacker Young group.
A partner at UHY Calvert Smith said: ““Pooling together complementary strengths from each firm will expand the first-class services on offer to our clients and place the new practice highly within the area.
“Both firms have similar client bases and a like-minded personal approach making for a smooth transition.”
Linda Hare added: “We are really excited to be a part of UHY Calvert Smith and to leverage UHY’s extensive network to build out our current offering.”
