It’s coming for your jobs. It will make accountants obselete. But not auditors because there is too much regulation.
The arrival of more sophisticated automation and Gen AI has had the accounting industry in a spin for a few years now. Broadly, the sector agrees the technology will be useful – it will lead to cost savings and efficiency gains, allowing teams to do more valuable work and provide clients with a better quality of service.
But realistically the application of these tools across the UK accounting industry at a large scale has not yet been realised.
In the second part of our 35 under 35 video series for for 2024, we asked some of our winners the impact automation was having on their roles and where they felt it was going to have an impact.
Not surprisingly, the answers were very different.
