International tax partner joins BDO
Mid-tier accountancy and advisory firm BDO LLP has appointed Julia McCullagh as international tax partner.
McCullagh, who formerly worked for PwC in both its UK and US functions, will be based in BDO’s London Baker Street office. Supporting the firm’s existing corporate tax practice, she brings several years of international experience across multiple sectors, including consumer markets and pharmaceuticals.
“BDO has a fantastic network of tax specialists both in the UK and internationally so I am excited to build relationships with my new colleagues and further grow the skillset of the team,” said McCullagh, in a press release.

Mazars appoints new partner
International accountancy and advisory firm Mazars appointed Chloe Ellis as partner in the firm’s Leeds office.
Ellis will lead a 40-person tax team, bringing experience from her former position at RSM as National Head of Transactions Tax. At Mazars, Ellis will provide bespoke advice to clients while developing the firm’s Leeds tax team.

Climate change leader joins Deloitte Ventures
Dr. Siobhan Gardiner has been appointed as the Climate Change and Environment Lead within Deloitte Ventures, a sub-programme within Deloitte.
Ventures couples disruptive technologies and emerging start-ups with Deloitte’s advisory work. In her new role, Gardiner will work with both clients and internal teams on creating sustainable technologies, like AI and blockchain, utilising the firm’s climate change and environment studio.
Previously a senior manager at Unilever, Gardiner has a PhD in biochemistry, bringing several years of environmental studies to her role within Deloitte.

Non-Executive Directors set to join FCA board
Two Non-Executive Directors have been appointed to three-year terms on the Financial Conduct Authority’s (FCA) board.
Jeannette Lichner will begin her term on 1 April, while Bernadette Conroy’s term will begin on 1 August, coinciding with the departures of board members Amelia Fletcher OBE and Catherine Bradley CBE.
Chair of the FCA, Charles Randell, said in a statement: “I’m delighted to welcome Jeannette and Bernadette to the FCA Board. They have extensive combined experience both in financial services and a range of public service organisations.”
