FORMER KPMG partner Simon Figgis has taken an independent non-executive role with the aim of advising the BDO leadership team.
Figgis (pictured) joined KPMG in 1977 (then known as Peat Marwick), he retired from the firm in April as audit partner. During his time at KPMG he has worked a variety of roles including: UK and KPMG Europe head of audit risk management; worked on several FTSE 100 audits; led the consumer and industrial audit practice in London; and the national aerospace and defense practice.
He will work alongside the only independent non-executive at BDO, Lesley MacDonagh, who was previously managing partner at international law firm Lovells. She has been a non-exec at BDO since 2008.
Together MacDonagh and Figgis will work with BDO’s leadership team on the development of the business and its governance procedures.
Simon Michaels, managing partner, BDO said: “We continue to raise the bar on quality, build on our merger to lead the mid-market and maximise opportunities.”
Figgis succeeds Lord David Currie, who has left to become chair of the competition and markets authority. Figgis takes up his role on 1 October.
