The Life Insurance Association has rejected proposals for a single professional body to oversee financial advisers put forward by the industry regulator, the Personal Investment Authority. Instead, the 25-year-old organisation has proposed the creation of a central committee to be known as The Financial Services Council, which would bring together representatives of existing professional and trade associations.
