The head of taxation at ACCA has claimed that the chancellor won’t deliver
any bad news in his pre-election pre-budget report.
“I am not expecting any bad news before the general election; it is the
post-election Budget 2010 where all the negativities will probably be revealed,”
said Chas Roy-Chowdhury.
Roy-Chowdhury claims this is the “calm before the storm” but that he would be
checking the pre-budget report notes as the “devil is in the detail.”
He predicted: “The Chancellor will announce a budget that is adequate for the
economic situation. Alistair Darling has to tackle the public deficit issue and
confirm the rise of the VAT rate.”
