A former partner at Ernst & Young has been jailed for three years and
told he must spend time teaching ethics to other tax advisers.
Robert Coplan, once a partner in the US branch of the firm, was jailed for
his part in a $2bn (£1.23bn) scheme to create tax shelters, according to
Reuters.
The court also ordered Coplan to pay $75,000 in fines and ordered to
undertaker 120 hours of cummunity service.
He is one of four serving and former partners convicted in a Manhattan court
on charges of tax evasion and conspiracy in May last year. The other defendants
were also expected to be sentenced this week.
