Sports Direct finance director Bob Mellors is to have a legal team assigned
to him, as the company faces a joint investigation into alleged anti-competitive
behaviour.
Mellors’s team will be separate from that of chief executive Dave Forsey and
founder Mike Ashley in order to avoid any conflict of interest, reported the
Telegraph.
The probe by the Serious Fraud Office and the Office of Fair Trading has hurt
the company’s share price. When the company admitted it had been visited by the
SFO and OFT in September last year, shares fell 17% and have not rallied with
the rest of the market in recent months.
