PwC named top brand for sustainability services

PWC HAS BEEN crowned the biggest brand in sustainability consulting services by environmental analysis specialists.

According to the Verdantix Green Quadrant Sustainability Business Consulting report, PwC is the biggest consultancy brand in the sustainability market,  followed by Accenture and McKinsey.

The Big Four was singled out as leading the way in this sector because of its previous investments in environmental services and its pool of in-house professionals.

Only a few firms – most notably Deloitte and PwC – are able to provide sustainability services across the client’s entire operations, according to report author Ray Crowley.

The report also revealed firms must practice what they preach, with 86% of buyers claiming a consultant’s own environmental performance is important to their decision.

“Consulting firms in the UK not only need the expertise to advise their clients on sustainability challenges, they also need to ‘walk the talk’ themselves, by making substantial investments in their own sustainability programmes,” said Verdantix director Rodolphe d’Arjuzon.

For all their efforts, Crowley warned the Big Four they need to do more to “inspire and engage” executives of large companies such as BT, Tesco and Unilever to go further in their management of environmental impacts.
