In Novemebr, we cover another busy month in the industry’s mid-market, in addition to a major UK leadership purge at Big Four firm Deloitte.
Big Four
(November 3) Deloitte has unveiled a major leadership shakeup, axing half of its UK executive team. According to the Big Four firm, the purge was carried out by chief executive Richard Houston after being reappointed to lead the firm for a further five years.
Among those ousted from the leadership team were UK managing partner Stephen Griggs, financial services managing partner Richard Bell, clients and industries managing partner Pauline Biddle, consulting managing partner Anne-Marie Malley and risk advisory managing partner Andy Morris.
(November 14) EY has announced the appointment of four new partners to its private business arm: Carol Hipwell, Lucy Townsend, Mike Reade and Steve Butler. The move demonstrates EY’s commitment to “investing in and nurturing top talent”, the firm said.
(November 17) KPMG has made two new hires across its special situations and turnaround teams. Both appointed as managing directors, Sharon Taylor and Lloyd Williams join the firm amid soaring demand in its deal advisory arm.
Mid-market
(November 1) Azets has announced two new hires in its restructuring and insolvency (R&I) practice. Andy Davis has been appointed strategic advice director, while Rob Young joins as R&I director.
(November 3) Crowe has appointed Martin Chapman as a partner in the firm’s forensic services practice. Chapman’s arrival is part of the Crowe’s increased forensic accounting drive in the Midlands region.
(November 8) Kinglsey Napley LLP has launched its new landed estates practice, appointing partner Charles Richardson to lead the service. Richardson joins from Hunters Law LLP.
(November 15) Cooper Parry has acquired Timothy Mahapatra as a senior adviser following “significant” investment from Waterland Private Equity. Mahapatra brings a range of senior partner level experience, having previously been a global managing director at Deloitte.
(November 17) Cowgills has promoted James Kennedy to partner. James, who joined the company four years ago from Clearwater International having qualified with Deloitte, is now the sixth partner in the deal advisory team.
(November 22) Mazars has appointed Andrew Jones as a partner in its audit team. Jones, a financial services specialist, joins Mazars from KPMG, bringing more than 20 years of financial services experience.
(November 23) Sedulo has appointed Sarah Richards as its new group head of tax. Richards brings a range of high-level experience to her new role, including stints at Deloitte and EY.
(November 24) Kroll has expanded its UK restructuring advisory practice with the appointment of two managing directors, Sarah Rayment and Annika Kisby. Rayment joins the firm from BDO, while Kisby joins from property consultancy firm Allsop.
Regulators and trade bodies
(November 11) Joseph Owolabi has been appointed global president of ACCA. Owolabi boasts a range of entrepreneurial and accounting experience, including stints at Deloitte, EY and PwC.
