Of those polled, 81% rated business services as either healthy or very healthy when asked to examine the state of the British economy.
The results demonstrate that there is a clear optimism within the accountancy sector following 2003 , a year the Big Four firms described as one of the hardest on record.
Only the leisure, property and construction sectors were rated more highly than business services by readers who were questioned.
Noel Carroll, area director of Allied Irish Bank, said: ‘It’s pleasing to see so much optimism over all. The economy is in a good state.
‘This comes back to quality management and people are managing businesses quite well. Accountants are much more of a business partner than just an auditor and because of that people are managing much better.’
