CIMA quits UK profession's main forum
CIMA to leave the CCAB, the forum set up in 1974 to represent the UK's accounting institutes
MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANTS’ institute CIMA is quitting the UK professional bodies’ committee after 36 years.
CIMA is leaving the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies (CCAB).
The committee grouped together CIMA, ACCA, the ICAEW, CIPFA, ICAS and Chartered Accountants Ireland to discuss and coordinate on matters affecting the profession. It was formed in 1974.
The other five bodies will continue as a body, in a structure yet to be determined.
“We believe that it is in the interests of business, the economy and public finance that there continues to be a need for such a forum,” said the CCAB in a statement.
“We will therefore work together to ensure the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies, of which we will remain as members, is the sole voice for the profession on those issues which affect our combined membership.”
