QX Accounting Services recently hosted its QXecutive Roundtable on 18th June 2026 at The Shard, bringing together senior leaders from leading accounting firms for an afternoon of discussion, networking, and shared insights on the future of technology, AI, and transformation in the profession.

Held at QX’s London office, the roundtable provided an opportunity for firm leaders to step away from day-to-day operations and engage in candid conversations about the opportunities and challenges shaping the future of accounting. Against the backdrop of The Shard’s stunning views of the London skyline, attendees exchanged ideas, shared experiences, and explored practical approaches to driving meaningful change within their firms.

The event followed QX’s successful participation as a Headline Sponsor at the Leaders in Accountancy Summit, where the firm’s session on the Five Levers of Transformation generated significant interest and engagement from delegates. Building on those conversations, QX created a smaller, executive-level forum to continue the dialogue and delve deeper into the realities of implementation.

Practical Insights, Honest Perspectives

A recurring theme throughout the discussion was that accounting firms are no longer debating whether transformation is necessary. The need to embrace AI, automation, and new ways of working is widely understood. The challenge lies in execution.

Participants shared honest perspectives on the barriers preventing firms from moving forward at pace. Common themes included a lack of internal capacity to drive transformation initiatives, uncertainty around where to begin, and the complexity created by disconnected technology ecosystems. While enthusiasm for AI remains high, many firms acknowledged that introducing new tools without first addressing underlying process inefficiencies can often create additional complexity rather than deliver meaningful results.

The conversation also highlighted a growing preference for practical, phased transformation over large-scale change programmes. Rather than undertaking disruptive overhauls, many firms are focusing on identifying quick wins, improving existing workflows, and building momentum through structured, incremental improvements.

The Five Levers of Transformation

During the session, QX shared its Five Levers of Transformation framework, a practical model designed to help firms translate strategy into action through five thoughtfully-crafted levers:

  • Process Harmonisation
  • Productivity Gains
  • AI & Automation
  • Strategic Offshoring
  • Operating Model Redesign

The framework sparked thoughtful discussion among participants, particularly around how firms can balance short-term improvements with long-term transformation objectives.

Networking and More

Alongside the discussions, attendees enjoyed networking with peers facing similar challenges, accompanied by refreshments and a selection of curated snacks. The informal setting encouraged open conversation and valuable relationship-building among industry leaders from across the sector.

Reflecting on the event, Pramith Naidu, Vice President – Client Relations at QX Accounting Services, commented:

“What stood out from the discussion was that firms are remarkably aligned on the challenges they’re facing. There’s a clear appetite for transformation and a genuine excitement around the possibilities of AI, but the industry is still looking for practical ways to bridge the gap between ambition and execution. Bringing leaders together to share experiences and learn from one another is an important part of that journey.”

The QXecutive Roundtable is part of QX’s ongoing commitment to supporting accounting firms as they navigate change, embrace innovation, and build more scalable, future-ready operating models.

As the profession continues to evolve, QX plans to expand these executive discussions, creating further opportunities for industry leaders to exchange ideas, challenge conventional thinking, and explore practical pathways to transformation.
