Andersen readies Via for take-off
Andersen Consulting is planning to launch a new business in the US on the 1 November, called Via World Network. It is the third business to be set up within Andersen’s new Enterprise Area.
The limited-liability corporation will focus on travel industry projects, rather than corporate-oriented consultancy.
“The Enterprise Area focuses on helping industry change and bringing in network-centred solutions,” said Kelly Renner, vice president of marketing at Via World Network. “Rather than focusing on a particular customer, we are focusing on a whole industry.”
The firm has developed a new product, a fast-track travel system, which will allow firms to change their travel arrangements without the middle man. Travellers will be able to access automated booking and expense reporting systems by telephone, e-mail and the Internet.
The system has been in pilot stage for the last two years and will be tested out by the Andersen’s own frequent travellers in November.
Via World Network aims to help the airline industry replace its outdated legacy systems with integrated electronic commerce systems.
