Some people really go beyond the call of duty. Nick Whitaker, head of corporate finance at Parnell Kerr Forster, has managed to demonstrate that when he gets a job, he really takes it to heart. Advising Brands Hatch on its takeover by US firm Interpublic Group, Whitaker revved up his enthusiasm and raced off to find out just what it’s like to get behind the wheel of a high-performance F1 racing car. Unfortunately his choice of machine was a tad short of the real thing. Fuelled by the prospect of speed, glamour and the inevitable adrenaline rush, Whitaker forgot to check whether his choice of vehicle would actually be anything more than a crate on wheels. Good thing he’s not advising on the racing.
