Taking Stock - Dame turns fire on European bigwigs.
It has been well documented in TS that Dame Sheila Masters’ idol is former prime minister Margaret Thatcher, and she has once again been emulating her heroine. Putting aside the blow of losing Ernst & Young to ICAS recently, the Dame gave a damning speech on Europe in Bruges, and like Thatcher gave them a torrid time. She told the audience which included senior EU officials that she didn’t believe Europe’s institutions could survive the new millennium unless they bucked up their financial management skills. TS wonders if she’ll be back to give another hellfire performance and brimstone any time soon, given the need for her rousing skills back at base camp.
