The ICAEW seems to have cottoned on to a good way of dealing with student revolt – simply get rid of the students.
But the students themselves seem far from happy about an institute move to rename them ‘provisional members’.
TS understands CASSL, the chartered accountants’ student society of London, believes the name makes them sound ‘transient’. The institute could be creating a rod for its own back by using the description, particularly if it wants to be distanced from high-jinks on results night.
