New head of tax at KPMG
He steps into the shoes of Ian Barlow, who will now become senior London partner, a position being vacated by Gerry Acher who retires from the firm at the end of the year.
Hickey, who has been a long-time campaigner for improved tax policies for growing business, became a partner at the firm in 1989.
Under Barlow’s eight year leadership, the tax practice doubled in size, trebling its turnover in the process. As well as tax, Barlow had responsibility for legal affairs, an area that will now fall under Nick Holt, managing director of the firm’s legal arm, KLegal.
Meanwhile Gerry Acher will become the honorary treasurer for the Queen’s Golden Jubilee celebrations.
