Charity chief goes before PAC
John Stoker, the chief charity commissioner, will today be quizzed by the influential and powerful Public Accounts Committee following a critical National Audit Office report.
Last month the NAO diplomatically, but firmly, said the commission could do better, especially when investigating accusations of charity misconduct.
In its report, Giving Confidently: The role of the Charity Commission in regulating charities, the public finance watchdog was critical of the Charity Commission’s approach to the scope of its investigations, the manner in which it monitored the progress of these investigations and its arrangements for ensuring that effective action was taken.
