Big Five attract record graduate levels
Recruitment professionals have revealed that despite the auditor fallout from the Enron fiasco, the Big Five are receiving record levels of graduates.
According to recruiters, despite recent negative publicity for the profession, graduates are being drawn to accountancy following a spate of job cuts in management consultancy and merchant banking.
The revelation is in stark contrast to the Big Five in the US, where firms are facing problems in attracting graduates.
Anne-Marie Martin, director of the University of London careers service, said: ‘Accounting firms themselves say they had more early applications this year than in previous years.’
