Link: Corporate finance deals dry up
Butterworth, 32, was previously director of the European corporate finance division at banking group UBS Warburg, specialising in telecommunications and corporate finance.
He will take on his new position at a difficult time for the corporate finance sector. Last month, a survey by Accountancy Age showed that corporate finance deals had nose-dived.
Statistics revealed the total value of deals worked on by the large accountancy firms in the first six months of the year had tumbled by more than 60%.
And with the news of job cuts looming throughout the industry, the outlook is grim – commentators do not see an upturn until the beginning of next year.
