A BoE spokeswoman confirmed today there is no successor in line for Clementi’s post. Last April, it was announced Clementi would not continue with the Bank at the end of his five-year term.
Possible contenders for Clementi’s job include David Verey, who left his job as deputy chairman of Cazenove this year, John Nelson, who recently retired at Credit Suisse First Boston, and Alastair Clark, the obvious internal candidate presently the Bank’s executive director.
Rumours in the city suggest that Clementi may be up for the empty chairman’s post at Prudential.
