Sir David Tweedie awarded honorary membership of ACCA

Sir David Tweedie, the International Accounting Standards Board chairman, has
been awarded an honorary ACCA membership by the institute.
A prize has also been created in his name, which will be awarded to the
best-performing student in the international accounting standards stream of
ACCA’s Advanced Corporate Reporting paper.
The awards were discussed at the ACCA global council meeting, and president
Christopher Forster commented on Sir David’s award.
‘His personal drive and commitment has led to the adoption of global
standards which underpin financial reporting and investment across today’s
global markets,’ he said.
After receiving his membership, Sir David said: ‘there is still much to be
done to achieve the convergence of standards and I look forward to working with
ACCA as we move towards this goal’.
