Society of Professional Accountants challenges the chancellor to ditch moving self-assessment filing dates forward
Ditching the proposed new self-assessment filing dates has been urged by the
body representing small accounting practitioners.
The Society of Professional Accountants has called for chancellor Gordon
Brown to withdraw proposals by Lord Carter to move SA filing deadlines forward.
‘Huge disruption will be caused to many thousands of small accountancy
practices, their staff and several million clients, with the earlier date of 30
September proving unattainable for many,’ the SPA stated in a press release.
Of 400 respondents to a survey by the body, 84% said the earlier filing dates
were not attainable, and two thirds warned adapting to the dates would cause
major disruption to their practices and staffing requirements.
