American named interim IASB trustees chairman
Hunt goes on for full-time European replacement
Hunt goes on for full-time European replacement
Philip Laskawy, the former chairman of Ernst & Young, has been made
interim head of the trustees who oversee the International Accounting Standards
Board.
This follows the loss of previous chairman Tommaso Padoa-Schioppa who was
named in Romano Prodi’s new Italian government as its finance minister.
Laskawy emphasised that the body was still seeking another European chairman.
The European Commission is demanding that someone from the European Union
head up the IASB trustees over fears that there is too much American influence
over the formation of international accounting standards.
