Accountancy firm Williams issues High Court writ against accountancy network Probiz over 'dishonoured' cheque
Chartered accountancy firm Williams has issued a High Court writ against
accountancy network
Probiz over a
‘dishonoured’ cheque.
The Ealing-based firm said Probiz wrote a cheque for £18,711.88 on 1
September to pay Williams, but the cheque was ‘dishonoured’, a High Court writ,
issued by Macgrath
solicitors, says.
Probiz was set up by Feisal Nahaboo and is a network of around 1,500
accountants working from 200 offices across the UK.
Williams is demanding a total of £18,765.16 plus interest from Probiz, and
says the company has not paid for accountancy services provided this year.
This week Nahaboo claimed the matter was now being resolved amicably between
the parties.
Statement from PROBIZ Network
Sir,
Williams Chartered Accountants were paid for preparation of the October
2007 PROBIZ accounts. Subsequently a further invoice was then raised for
approximately £18,500. The cheque was not bounced but it was stopped when
certain matters came to the attention of PROBIZ. PROBIZ has very healthy cash
balances and are counter claiming for potential damages from Williams CA over
issues relating to their work for PROBIZ. The company has tried to contact
Williams CA on several occasions to ask for information but no calls or emails
have been returned on the subject matter. In addition despite several requests
PROBIZ’s proposed new accountants have not received information from Williams CA
either. The invoice in dispute appeared only after the intention to switch
accountants had been communicated to Williams CA.
