Report compiled by liquidators from Grant Thornton on Bernard Madoff's UK operations sparks official SFO probe.
The Serious Fraud Office is to probe Bernard Madoff’s UK business operations
on the back of a study by liquidators from Grant Thornton.
The firm provided an interim report to the SFO and the department will now
use it to help determine any criminal offences that might have been committed in
the UK and the people affected by these crimes.
The SFO is also liaising closely with law enforcement counterparts in the
United States and with the City of London Police.
Investors or other stakeholders involved with the Madoff UK businesses have
been urged to come forward with information.
They can do this by using the online referral form on the ‘Reporting a City
fraud’ page on
www.sfo.gov.uk/cases/cityfraud/
or calling the hotline 020 7239 7272.
