Thousands of taxpayers out of pocket
Accountants have reported cases of taxpayers waiting up to three months for
tax refunds from HM Revenue and Customs due to new random security checks, the
Independent
reported.
Under changes introduced in January, taxpayers will not receive interest on
repayments of tax owed to them. Accountant Rob Durrant-Walker at UHY Hacker
Young says many clients owed money are experiencing financial difficulties at
having to wait such a long period to be repaid.
