Non-dom Lloyds hopeful should be ineligible, say Lib Dems
Party dismisses candidature of non-dom Sandler for Lloyds Banking Group chairman role
The Liberal Democrats have questioned the eligibility of a candidate in line
for the Lloyds Banking Group chairman role because he is non-domiciled.
Ron Sandler – currently chairman of Northern Rock – is only taxed on his UK
income and not on overseas income or gains, according to
telegraph.co.uk
Lord Oakeshott, Treasury spokesman for the Liberal Democrats, said: ‘The
chairman of a nationalised, or part-nationalised, bank should not be a non-dom.
‘Ron Sandler should not become chairman of Lloyds.’
Sandler was born in Zimbabwe and carries a German passport.
