Former NHS finance chief struck off by ACCA
Philip Neal struck off by ACCA after forgery jail term
An NHS finance director who was jailed for a year for forging reports has
been struck off by the ACCA.
Philip Neal was director of finance and deputy chief executive of the Mid
Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust when he forged official Valuation Office
Agency reports concerning the sale of trust properties, which were issued to the
Trust’s external auditors for its 2005/06 annual accounts.
‘We work closely with professional bodies to raise awareness of how, in
applying their own sanctions, bodies such as the ACCA make an important
contribution to deterring others who might abuse the public health system,’ said
Alan McGill of the NHS Counter Fraud Service. ‘Some fraudsters are more afraid
of losing their livelihood than a spell behind bars.’
Neal can appeal the ACCA’s decision.
