Scandal surrounding former KPMG consultancy continues
Four former directors of iSoft, the IT consultancy once owned by KPMG, are to
face criminal charges brought by the Financial Services Authority.
Tim Whiston, an accountant who once worked at Pricewaterhouse and was also FD
at iSoft before becoming the CEO; Patrick Cryne, a former partner at KPMG and
iSoft’s former chairman; Stephen Graham, who joined KPMG in 1987 and later
became a partner in the iSoft business as well as chief operating officer; and
John Whelan, the finance director who took over the role from Whiston, all face
charges of conspiracy to make misleading statements.
The FSA released details of the charges today, saying the four are due to
appear at Westminster Magistrates Court on 29 January. Whiston, Cryne and Graham
were all present at iSoft when a management buy-out took it away from KPMG in
1999.
iSoft specialised in IT projects for the NHS.
