Germany’s finance Minister Wolfgang Schäuble will make another attempt to
enforce a banking levy after being shot down at the G20 summit meeting last
month.
No consensus was reached on the introduction of a global financial
transactions tax at the G20 summit meeting in Toronto, but Schäuble will renew
calls to the European Commission.
Schäuble announced the plans in the German parliament,
tax-news.com
reported, adding that he and French finance minister Christine Lagarde will
jointly urge the European Commission to draft proposals for a European financial
transactions tax.
