Bridge steps down after 33 years at Waterworths

Peter Bridge is to retire from accountancy firm Waterworths having qualified
more than 35 years ago.

Bridge retires from Blackburn-based Waterworths in September having joined in
1977, after qualifying in 1975. He was promoted to general practice partner in
1980.

Last year the firm merged with Beever and Struthers, which has offices in
Manchester, London and now Blackburn. The merged business is now called Beever
and Struthers inc Waterworths.

He qualified in 1975 while based in the Manchester office of Coopers and
Lybrand (now PwC). Bridge later moved to Deloitte Haskins & Sells (now
Deloitte), where he focused on tax.

He is succeeded by partner Steve Boyes who will be based in the Blackburn
practice.

Looking back at his career, Bridge highlights swapping long lunches for long
hours as one of the major changes to working life at accountancy firms.

He said the single biggest change was the replacement of staff by accountancy
IT.

Beever and Struthers currently has 26 partners.
