Nearly six and a half million online filing submissions through to HMRC: the system's "working well"
A RECORD NUMBER of tax returns have been submitted through the taxman’s online self-assessment process this year.
There were 6.45m submissions in total as of 12pm today, compared with 6.42 million overall last year, said HMRC. Of these, 115,000 were submitted from 12am to 12pm today, with 215,000 submitted on 30 January. Since 24 January, 1.5m people have submitted their returns.
The spokeswoman said: “The HMRC self-assessment online system is working well in the run up to the midnight deadline and we are expecting record numbers of tax returns to be filed electronically this year.”
The deadline for online submissions is midnight tonight (31 January). A spokeswoman said the website has been “working well”.
