Three ex-Mazars partners get day in court against firm

THREE EX-MAZARS PARTNERS are due to meet in a court battle next week.

The former partners are suing Mazars for funds they claim the firm is withholding to pay their personal income tax liabilities, for the year ending 2009/10

Robin Stevens, Stephen Bullock and Fiona Hotston Moore (pictured above), all now partners at Crowe Clark Whitehill, filed the claim against the firm on 8 October.

The trio are due to meet at the Royal Courts of Justice next week over claims they are collectively owed more than £138,000.

A spokeswoman for Mazars said at the time: “As a matter of policy, Mazars makes any payments due to former and existing partners promptly and properly.

“However, this matter relates to ongoing legal proceedings with these individuals and as such we are not prepared to comment any further at present,” the firm stated.

Hotston Moore is claiming £54,696, Stevens £44,000 and Bullock £40,519. The trio is also claiming £777 in interest at a rate of approximately 3% per annum starting 23 July.

Stevens (pictured left) is also making a seperate legal claim against the firm for his unpaid expenses with a court date set for April.

The claim is for £1,400 of expenses, including £70 court costs, incurred last March by Stevens which he claims has yet to be paid.

A court date is scheduled for early April at Cambridge County Court.

Stevens said at the time: “It is unfortunate and disappointing, but sadly not surprising, that Mazars seem incapable of dealing with this simple matter in a professional and grown up way.”
